David is one of the most complicated characters in the Bible. He was a shepherd, a warrior, a poet, a musician, a king, and a father. He was also an adulterer, a murderer, a coward, and a liar. However, in the Book of Acts, David is referred to as a man after God’s own heart. See? Complicated.
David was a man of God despite his many flaws. As men, we may find it easier to relate to David than many other men we encounter in the Bible. David did plenty wrong. He messed up several times in significant ways, but he showed us that through God’s forgiveness and grace, even an adulterous murderer could be restored to be used by God.
