About Fit for Christ Group

The Fit For Christ Challenge combines teachings on faith and endurance training. We will train for several walking and running races and events during our upcoming season, including 5Ks and 10Ks. We will also meet for impromptu hikes on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and impromptu team cycling rides.

Participants will be grouped according to experience, ability, and whether they are walkers or runners. There will be both one-on-one coaching and group training. Each workout will include prayer, a Bible study and devotional, a teaching point about running, and a workout session including warmup, stretching, and cooldown. We also will have team dietary guidance provided by expert nutritionists.

Your lead coaches for Fit For Christ are Rev. Wally Best and Soti Collado. Coach Wally is an experienced certified running coach who has trained for and completed over 100 road races, including 22 marathons, and 12 NYC marathons. Coach Soti has trained for and completed a full range of endurance races including road races and Half Ironman triathlons. This will be the third year that Coaches Wally and Soti have led a Reach walk-run group. No previous running or walking experience is required.

Psalm 35:9-10 [MSG] states, ‘But let me run loose and free, celebrating God’s great work, every bone in my body laughing, singing, ‘God, there’s no one like you. You put the down-and-out on their feet and protect the unprotected from bullies!”’

NOTE: This is a CO-ED GROUP that meets in person. Midweek meetings and workouts will meet at the Reach White Plains Campus. Additional weekend coach-led workouts will take place on Saturdays at three possible locations: Kensico Dam, SUNY Purchase, or the White Plains High School track. Some workouts will begin at 7AM. Team impromptu hikes and cycling rides will meet at the Reach White Plains campus for carpooling.
